I recently came across a video of the new Native Instruments  Traktor Kontrol X1 DJ controller and it looks like a very versatile DJ tool indeed.

First of all it was designed so that the user gains access to all of Traktors functions and so there is no need to touch the laptop at all while performing.  The controller itself can control two decks and is comprised of three main sections.  The effects section lets you control four parameters per deck to control  EQ, and use as insert effects.  The browser section has two knobs to control the browser section of each deck.  And the transport section gives  you control over cue, cue play, play/pause and sync.  It even possesses a feature that shows you when the beats of each deck are losing sync mid mix and, with the press of a button, will re-sync it for you!

It can also be used alongside time coded vinyl/CD’s to gain extra functionality and the Traktor Kontrol X1 can also be used universally  with other software  as a midi controller, so you Dont have to be a Traktor user to enjoy it.

Traktor Kontrol X1 will be available from Feb 2010 and will cost around £150.
