Blame Interview - Metalheadz, Hospital, 720
Since last year's summertime anthem 'Stay Forever' first hinted at mainstream success, it's been pretty clear that Blame is on a mission to smash up dancefloors worldwide. Recent remixes for David Guetta & Kelly Rowland ('When Love Takes Over'), Robin S. ('Show Me Love') and Example ('Watch the Sun Come Up') have taken clubs by storm and reached a massive audience through the support of BBC Radio 1 tastemakers Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Mistajam among others. With a career stretching back to the foundations of rave and hardcore in 1992, he's one of the longest serving DJs in drum & bass and has consistently released across leading labels such as Moving Shadow, Good Looking, Metalheadz and Hospital. His discography is proof there are no limits to his production skills, with highlights including 'Music Takes You,' '360 Clic' and 'Solar Burn', and reveals an artist who's constantly represented the more musical side of drum & bass.

Q & A:
The studio mastermind has recently gone into overdrive, somehow finding time in between gigs to remix the Jackson 5, get married and work on his forthcoming album - we caught up with him to find out more:
Q. Your upcoming album is set to feature a whole host of high-profile guests, including Bashy and Tinchy Stryder among others. Has it been a challenge working with so many different artists and is there anyone you've particularly enjoyed working with?
A. It has been a big challenge, because everyone works differently, and I’ve learnt so much while writing this album. Working with Tinchy was great, especially as he was no 1 in the UK Top 40 while we were recording the track! Also it's been really creative working with Bashy and Camilla, and working on the track with Dynamite MC was a big moment as well.
Q. This year you've performed alongside Selah in live shows at clubs and festivals, including Get Loaded in the Park, and your music is set to feature in a live show at the BBC Electric Proms later this month. Do you have any further plans for live performances in the future?
A. I hope to develop a live set for the release of this album, but with so many high profile vocalists it’s going to be a challenge, but if we can line it all up it will be massive!
Q. The latest Blame remix smashing up clubs right now is of the Jackson 5 classic 'I Want You Back' and may just be your biggest remix yet - did you feel any pressure when you were asked to rework such a massive hit?
A. I didn't feel too much pressure because the deadline was really tight , it ended up being the day before my wedding, so that took all the stress away! I was up through the night finishing it off before i got married, and then quickly squeezed a speech in last minute! It was an amazing project to work on and a real landmark in my career.
Q. As a DJ, you've built a solid repuation for dynamic and high-energy sets through years of worldwide touring experience. What kind of gigs do you enjoy most and do you have any favourite places to play at?
A. I love all kinds of gigs, big and small, as long as there is a wicked vibe and lots of energy in the venue. There have been so many great nights lately, but Get Loaded festival was an amazing experience, as well as Hospitality nights in Matter, and up and down the UK.
Q. Your last single on Blame Music (Apocalypto b/w Hiro) proved that it's possible to be both dancefloor-friendly and experimental at the same time. Do you have any plans to revisit the label and what's next in store for your other imprint, 720 Degrees?
A. My main love is making music, and running a label takes so much time out of my day, so at the moment im just focusing on my album and remixes. Hopefully I can spend some time on 720 and Blame Music when I hit all these deadlines!!!!
